Erbil<\/a> serves as the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, recognized by UNESCO as the world’s oldest continuously inhabited city. Dating back at least 6,000 years, the city has maintained a vibrant existence from ancient times to the present day (source: NASA<\/a>, UNESCO<\/a>). Kurdistan, operating as a semi-independent state within Iraq according to the Iraqi constitution (gov.krd<\/a>), is home to a diverse population of 7 million people. The region boasts a rich tapestry of ethnicities, including Kurds, Turkmens, Caldas, Syriacs, and Assyrians, alongside a variety of religious communities, such as Muslims, Christians, Ezidies, Zoroastrianism, and Kakayees. Known for its openness and tolerance, Kurdistan stands as a free and inclusive haven in the Middle East, welcoming individuals of all cultures, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. The Kurdistan Regional Government enforces specific entry regulations exclusively through Erbil International Airport and Sulaimani International Airport. Visas issued are valid solely for the territory governed by the Kurdistan Regional Government. The visa application process is conducted online through the official gov.krd<\/a> portal. Taxis serve as the predominant mode of public transportation in Erbil. Easily identifiable by their yellow color and marked with a “TAXI” sign, these vehicles are registered with the appropriate authorities, ensuring a high level of safety. Simply raise your hand on the street, and they will stop for you.
