ملخص
يهدف البحث إلى بيان مكانة مدينة أربل في كتابات المؤرخ العراقي ابن الفُوَطِي وتحديد ابعاد هذه المكانة ودلالاتها.
ينتظم البحث في مقدمة وجزأين وخاتمة وملحق، يتناول الأول ( التمهيد) عصر ابن الفُوَطِي(642-723هـ/1245-1324م) وحياته، أما الثاني فيتحرى بيان علاقة ابن الفوطي بأهل مدينة أربل والكشف عن مكانتها في كتابات ابن الفُوَطِي، ومقارنتها مع المدن العراقية الأخرى التي ذكرها ابن الفُوَطِي في كتاباته، ويحلّل هذه المادة تحليلاً إحصائيا كمياً من حيث مضامينها العلمية والثقافية، والزمانية وموارد ابن الفُوَطِي عن هذه التراجم، وينتهي البحث بخاتمهٍ تتضمن خلاصة ما توصل إليه، وملحق يضم أسماء جميع من ترجم لهم ابن الفُوَطِي من أهل مدينة أربل فيما وصل الينا من مادته.
يستند البحث إلى ما وصل من مادة تاريخية ابن الفُوَطِي والمتمثلة في الجزأين الرابع والخامس من كتابه:تلخيص مجمع الآداب في معجمالألقاب، واللذين يتضمنان خمسة آلاف وتسعمائة وإحدى وعشرين ترجمة، ولقدتم التعامل معها حسبما هو معمول به في قواعد البحث التاريخي، توثيقاً ونقداً وتحليلاً، فقد أُخْضِعَتْ للتحليل الإحصائي، وخَلُص إلى مجموعة من الإحصاءات من حيث ببعدها الزماني، ومضامينها العلمية والثقافية وموارد ابن الفُوَطِي حول هذه التراجم.
